While Hansel and Gretel are widely attributed as the first to come up with the whole breadcrumb trail idea, their pioneering efforts in this area, at least as recorded by the Brothers Grimm, were, well, less than successful.
Nonetheless, the breadcrumb trail is a useful concept, so here at Photobird.com we’ve adopted Hansel and Gretel’s clever idea for the Internet age. Here’s how it works: when viewing any of your Photobird albums, the site will automatically keep track of where you are in the top left corner of the page. These links allow you to navigate and manage your photo albums with ease. Clicking on your username will return you to your “top album” where you can select a different album. Clicking on the name of a photo album will return you to the first page of that album.
Try it out on Ed Krimen’s Point Reyes album.
Tip: if you change the top album title, like Ed has done here, it will be reflected in the breadcrumb trail.
Intuitive, well-designed, and simple to use and, unlike poor Hansel and Gretel, you don’t have to worry about foraging woodland creatures eating your breadcrumb trail.
