“Stop! In the Name of Love” is a number-one single recorded by The Supremes in 1965 for the Motown label. Diana Ross sang the lead vocals, and according to Wikipedia, the song held the number-one position on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and reached the number-two position on the soul chart. It’s one of the most popular and well-known songs of the late 20th century.

February is a good month to stop and smell the roses. “Stop” is the theme of the Photobird Photo Contest for February 2009. David Cresine presents us with many roses to smell in his Photobird photo album entitled “Flowers Up Close” which includes the rose shown above.

While you are enjoying the sweet scent of this rose, enter the Photobird Photo Contest for February 2009. The contest is always free to enter and this month’s contest ends February 28, 2009 at 11:59pm Pacific time.

Thank you to everyone who entered the Photobird Photo Contest for January 2009! “Go” was the theme and there were a lot of photos that captured scenes on the go. The entries included a couple of hiking trails, a couple of vehicles powered by engines, and a few modes of transportation powered by animals.

Congratulations to Pradip Datta, winner of the Photobird Award with the photo “Going Home“. I wrote about Pradip’s stunning photo a couple of weeks ago, and I pointed out the gorgeous color in the photo as well as the effectiveness of the silhouette of the camel and its rider. “Going Home” is a sensational photo.

Congratulations to Meeta Dani, winner of the People’s Choice Award with the photo “Long way to go“. The photo is very attractive and well composed, leading our eyes far in the distance along the new road. The sepia tone of the image applies a unique, creative appearance to the brand new construction.

Pradip and Meeta will each receive the following prizes:

Congratulations again to both winners!

After we’ve been on the go for an entire month, I think it’s time to stop and take a rest. “Stop” is the theme for the Photobird Photo Contest for February 2009. The Photobird Photo Contest is free to enter, so be sure to get your entry in and have your friends vote on their favorite photos before month’s end.
